Teachers’ Day Dedication Service 2025 - MINI YET MIGHTY
Last Saturday, over 450 Christian Early Childhood (EC) educators from 100 preschools gathered to worship God together for the 7th Early Childhood Teachers’ Day Dedication Service. What a moment it was — both humbling and hopeful.
When the first dedication service birthed in August 2019, we weren’t sure there would even be another one, let alone a seventh. The challenges were real. Resources were tight. Encouragement was rare. The Christian preschool landscape was shifting fast. From 16% of the sector in 2015, Christian preschools have declined to just 5.7% in 2024. It often felt like we were labouring in obscurity—fighting a quiet, losing battle.
But God sees in mustard seeds what the world cannot.
So on 30 August 2025, at Singapore Life Church, we came—some weary, some wondering, but all willing. Willing to trust again. Willing to sow again. Willing to hope again.
And there, in the warmth of familiar faces and the welcome of new ones, something stirred. We weren’t alone.
Theme - Mini Yet Mighty
The theme for this year’s service is "Mini Yet Mighty," or “ 微小但非凡,” taken from Matthew 13 & 17.
We can sometimes feel small - wondering if everything we do matter, feeling that we are minute. But no! We are God’s children. We carry the presence of God with us and we can tap on God’s power. If we stay close to our heavenly Father and is vibrant in our discipleship journey, we will grow. And when we grow, His power and love will work in us and through us.
And this is symbolised in this year’s Teachers’ Day memento - Sprout Pencils with basil and sunflower seeds. The seeds are really tiny. But with good nurturing, the necessary nutrients and the right enviroment, it will grow into a big plant.
Just like what the Parable of the Mustard Seed says:
“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”
Worshipping God as One Church in Christ!
The worship team, contributed by the Lutheran Church led us into a time of praise and worship. Over 450 fellow brothers and sisters in Christ enjoyed a time of worship together and soaking in the presence of God.
Though we come from different churches; we work at different preschools, in different locations across our nation, we serve the same God. We serve in the same ministry in SG - the Christian Preschool Ministry.
Scripture Reading by Preschool Children
In a simple yet profound moment during the service, two preschoolers from a Christian preschool stood before us and read aloud the Scripture passage on mustard seeds. Their voices were small but unwavering. Strong. Confident. It was as if God Himself was speaking through them — reminding us that this work is not in vain. In their reading, we saw our purpose. In their faith, we saw our future. Check out the video below! :)
Sermon by Bishop Philip
Bishop Philip Lim, president of the National Council of Churches of Singapore, then brought a timely word: a call to faithfulness, the mustard seed and how we are Mini Yet Mighty in the hands of God. He urged us to stay the course. To labour not in competition, but in collaboration. “Bring the children to Jesus,” he said—not just with our hands, but with our hearts. Not just once, but over and over, with every story told, every child embraced, every prayer whispered. Check out his full bilingual sermon below!
How God Moved in SG’s Christian Preschool Ministry
Brother Fred from the Christian Preschool Alliance shared how God had moved in SG’s Christian preschool ministry for the last 6 years, leading churches and organisations to strengthen the preschool ministry together.
This journey has not been easy. We are not yet out of the wilderness. But we are beginning to see manna again. Through the support of the Jesus The Light funding, 50 preschools, which is almost half of the Christian preschools in Singapore have been able to re-centre, re-vision, and reposition themselves to meet the days ahead. It is still hard. But hope is rising.
And that’s what this service was all about - Not just an event, but a marker.
A reminder that God can do much with little. That faithfulness is not measured by outcomes, but by obedience. And that even the smallest seed—planted in love, watered with prayer, and held fast in grace—can become something strong enough to shelter others.
Prayer & Rededication for All Who Came
Together, all who came rededicated ourselves to the Lord for the preschool ministry through a Covenant Pledge and Dedication Prayer, led by church leaders Rev Benjamin Tsao and Rev Dr Lim Choon Guan.
The congregation was also blessed and prayed over by Rev Benjamin, Rev Dr Lim as well as Right Rev Dr Caleb Soo. Hearts were ministered to, hearts were lifted, reminding us that our efforts, when done in the hands of our Lord, will be mighty in His ways.
And all of us walked away that day not with fireworks, but with quiet fire.
And sometimes, that is more than enough.
The Mustard Seed
I held a seed so small, so shy, Too light to catch a passerby.
But You, O Lord, had seen it grow — In hidden ways that we don’t know.
You said, “Just plant. Be still. Be true. I’ll send the sun. I’ll send the dew.”
So day by day, through joy and ache,I sowed the seed for Heaven’s sake.
Now children read with steady tone, No longer scared to stand alone.
Their voices rise, their hearts believe — A glimpse of harvest we’ll receive.
I may not see the tree complete, but still I walk with dusty feet.
For in Your hands, small things succeed — You move the world with one small seed.
